Bursaries

Supporting Conference Attendance

We are pleased to announce that the Music Encoding Conference 2025 will offer a limited number of travel bursaries of 500€ each to support students, early-career scholars and under-resourced researchers who wish to participate.

These bursaries aim to help cover travel and accommodation costs, ensuring broader access to the conference. While priority may be given to authors of accepted submissions, all eligible participants are encouraged to apply.

Bursary recipients will be selected based on the applications submitted, with decisions made primarily on financial need and potential benefit to the community. We are committed to encouraging diversity and accessibility , with a particular focus on supporting early-career researchers and students.

Eligibility Criteria

Applicants should:

  • Be a student, early-career researcher, or an under-resourced scholar (including those from low-income institutions or countries).
  • Not have secured full funding for conference attendance
  • Communicate in their application how their attendance at the conference will benefit and/or contribute to the Music Encoding Community

You can apply to the bursaries by filling in this form before the end of Friday, 21 March 2025. You will need to submit a CV (pdf format) with the form.

The Music Encoding Conference will take place on 3-6 June 2025 at City University, London, UK. It is an important event for scholars in digital editing, digital musicology and digital libraries, and is the annual meeting of the Music Encoding Initiative (MEI) community.

These bursaries are supported by the generosity of the Music Encoding Initiative, and can be supplemented by registration fees and donations.
